Archive for Gossip Girl Season 2
Whether you watch diligently each week or just tune in every now and then for a quick fix, it can be hard to remember every backstab, hook-up, and scandal that happened during Season 2 of Gossip Girl. And with Season 3 almost upon us, the CW is here to help us catch up! Behold, Gossip Girl Season 2 in 2 Minutes (after the jump).
Of course, you COULD watch every single episode over again with your new DVD set (and I highly recommend doing that, too)… but who has the time? Plus, the CW has done the dirty work of eliminating all the crap storylines from their condensed version. (No skanky escorts extorting Chuck, no Jenny in her raccoon phase, and nothing about Nate and Vanessa. I guess we weren’t the only ones who would rather forget!) So, hunker down for a couple minutes and get up to speed…
Gossip Girl: The Complete Second Season
On DVD August 18, 2009
Just in Time for the Season Three Premiere on The CW
BURBANK, CA (May 27, 2009) – The sophomore season of one of television’s hottest properties graduates to DVD when Warner Home Video releases Gossip Girl: The Complete Second Season on August 18, 2009. Developed for television by Josh Schwartz (Chuck, The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (The O.C.), Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively (New York, I Love You), Leighton Meester (Entourage), Penn Badgley (Forever Strong), Chace Crawford (The Haunting of Molly Hartley), Taylor Momsen (We Were Soldiers), Ed Westwick (Children of Men), Jessica Szohr (What About Brian), with Kelly Rutherford (Melrose Place) and Matthew Settle (Brothers & Sisters). The second season of Gossip Girl enjoyed a 43% increase in ratings among women 18–34.
The seven-disc set includes all 25 episodes from the second season and nearly four hours of special features, including all-new featurettes, unaired scenes, gag reel, and a downloadable audiobook of Gossip Girl: You Know You Love Me by Cecily von Ziegesar, read by Christina Ricci.
It’s senior year for our beloved Upper East Siders, and the drama is at an all-time high. Applying for college is only one small part of the story, as new romances (and some not-so-new romances) bloom and fade, scandals erupt at every turn and alliances shift even faster than Gossip Girl can send an update. Families and reputations are destroyed and made; so are fortunes. And even the strongest friendships are tested. In this sizzling season two, you never know what’s next for Serena, Blair, Dan, Nate, Jenny, Chuck and Vanessa. Good thing Gossip Girl is always there to provide us with the latest, juiciest info!
“Gossip Girl is certainly one of the most talked-about shows on the air and has had tremendous staying power due to its loyal and passionate fan base,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “The Gossip Girl franchise continues to grow with an overall ratings increase of almost 15%, on top of incredibly strong sales of the Season 1 DVD. We are thrilled to bring this must-own series to DVD for the show’s enthusiastic fans to enjoy.”
The series is from College Hill Pictures, Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Television Inc. Gossip Girl is based upon the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show’s executive producers are Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Leslie Morgenstein (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies), Bob Levy (the forthcoming The Vampire Diaries) and John Stephens (Gilmore Girls, The O.C.)

E! Online has some scoop on Hilary Duff’s visit to Gossip Girl, the response to which can best be described as mixed from the comments we have read on our site since the move was announced. Here’s the latest on that touchy subject and lots more …
Q: So excited Gossip Girl is back in production! What can you tell us?!
A: Sorry, Hilary Duff haters, but Duff joins the Gossip Girl cast as Olivia, and she’ll be getting her movie star cooties on the entire cast, not just Vanessa and Dan.
Also on Gossip Girl this season, Chuck and Blair are totally getting married and having a million babies. OK, not that, but they are staying tight. Yay!
And, believe it or not, the show really is trending away from “Dan and Serena are the one true pairing of Gossip Girl.” Certainly, that arc might turn back sometime in the future, but for now the show is trying to establish their separate identities, apart from their on-again, off-again shenanigans.
Is that great news or the worst thing you’ve ever heard?
Q: Are we actually going to see Serena’s dad on the third season of Gossip Girl?
A: It is decidedly so. We will finally meet Serena’s dad this season on Gossip Girl.
