It was just a matter of time before they find a new playground for Melrose Place vixen Katie Cassidy, and who would have thought it would be the Upper East Side?

Entertainment Weekly
is reporting that Cassidy, who some say was the only thing memorable (in a good way) about the doomed reboot, just bagged a multi-episode guest spot on Gossip Girl, where she’ll play a student at Columbia who’ll take an interest in Nate (Chace Crawford).
EW adds that Cassidy’s character, set to jump right in with a debut on the season 4 opener, will “make trouble” for the others because – surprise, surprise, she is “not what she appears.” So she’s not a student after all?
Cassidy, 23, was last seen in A Nightmare on Elm Street and briefly on ill-fated Harper’s Island. She’s currently filming an upcoming American romantic comedy feature called Monte Carlo, where she’ll appear, coincidentally, with Gossip Girl mainstay Leighton Meester and Disney baby Selena Gomez.
Gossip Girl season 4 promises to be chockfull of new faces, with Harry Potter actress Clemence Poesy recently cast Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) new love interest, at least when he’s in Paris. Her character Eva was described as a “warm-hearted bombshell.”
“Warm-hearted bombshell?” Only on Gossip Girl!
Look out, Blair: Ex-Melrose Place vamp Katie Cassidy is relocating to Manhattan.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cassidy — who was arguably the best thing about last season’s ill-fated Melrose reboot — is staying in the CW fold with a multi-episode arc on Gossip Girl.
She’ll play a student at Columbia and a love interest for fellow undergrad Nate (Chace Crawford).
This next bit probably goes without saying, but a Gossip source tells me that Cassidy’s character “will make trouble” for several Upper East Siders, adding, “She is not what she appears.”
Cassidy will first air in the season 4 premiere.
Coincidentally, Cassidy is currently in Paris shooting the teen adventure comedy Monte Carlo alongside fellow Gossip girl Leighton Meester (Blair). Thoughts? Does Cassidy’s casting warrant an enthusiastic “Yes!” or an apathetic “Meh?” (Hint: The correct answer is “Yes!”)
Harry Potter actress Clemence Poesy will be busy casting a spell on Chuck Bass this fall. Gossip Girl has tapped the actress to play Chuck’s new French fling for multiple episodes, beginning with the Paris-set season premiere.
The character, Eva, is described as a warm-hearted bombshell who joins Chuck in Paris — much to the surprise of Blair, who has been spending the summer there with Serena.
The Wrap first reported news of Poesy’s casting.
Thoughts? Will Blair chew up and spit out this little fille like some kind day old croissant? My guess? Oui!

Clemence Poesy: Gossip Girl’s New Star!
Harry Potter’s Clemence Poesy is set to guest star on Gossip Girl’s fourth season!
The 27-year-old French actress is best know for her role as Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter films. The fourth season of GG, which premieres this fall, begins in Paris as Serena and Blair enjoy the summer across the pond.
The Wrap, who broke the story, could not confirm the number of episodes that Clemence will star in or which character she plays.

Good news and bad news.
The good news, first: Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello has assured us that Gossip Girl will not play the amnesia card with alive-and-squinting Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) when the series returns next season. That Chuck will lose his memory after getting mugged and shot on the season finale was top of mind on Gossip Girl fans’ after CW confirmed that the Chucker will have “a new identity” when he joins now ex Blair (Leighton Meester) and Serena (Blake Lively) in Paris next season.

“Season 4 will open with a radiant Serena and Blair enjoying their grand and romantic summer in Paris. Until Chuck mysteriously arrives in town with a new girlfriend and a new identity,” the synopsis read. EW repeats: “The little Bass-tard will emerge from his near-death experience a very changed man,” but: no amnesia.
As for Nate (Chace Crawford), whose storyline will be heavily anticipated after his much-publicized marijuana ordeal, a new love interest is in the offing for Mr. Archibald. Gossip Girl is currently casting for that character, which can very well say something about the future (or lack of which) of Serenate.
For the bad news, at least for the Vanessa non-fans. Jessica Szohr, whose character left to go shoot a documentary somewhere, said Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage promised that we’ll get to “learn more” about Vanessa’s character this season.
“She’s going to start getting more real estate so you get to learn more about her character and where she comes from.”
