Q: So excited Gossip Girl is back in production! What can you tell us?!
A: Sorry, Hilary Duff haters, but Duff joins the Gossip Girl cast as Olivia, and she’ll be getting her movie star cooties on the entire cast, not just Vanessa and Dan.
Also on Gossip Girl this season, Chuck and Blair are totally getting married and having a million babies. OK, not that, but they are staying tight. Yay!
And, believe it or not, the show really is trending away from “Dan and Serena are the one true pairing of Gossip Girl.” Certainly, that arc might turn back sometime in the future, but for now the show is trying to establish their separate identities, apart from their on-again, off-again shenanigans.

A: It is decidedly so. We will finally meet Serena’s dad this season on Gossip Girl.
It was reported by EW that Hilary Duff will be the new face on “Gossip Girl“, but how far her arrival affects the Upper East Siders has just been unveiled. Duff’s character, Olivia Burke, will be hooking up with one of the guys whom she thought is an opposite of her.
EW said that Olivia is a “movie star who enrolls at NYU in search of a traditional college experience.” She will be the roommate of Vanessa, which means, she is a student majoring in Drama. However, she brings more than just a connection to Vanessa.
According to E! Online, Olivia is tangled in a romantic relationship with Dan. With the fact that Olivia wants to enjoy an ordinary life away from the limelight, she sees Dan as a simple and non-famous guy who is a perfect date for her. As a twist, Dan has no clue that Olivia is famous.
Hilary Duff will be featured in a multi-episode arc, starting from the fourth episode which is to air on October 5. Production of the third season meanwhile, has been kicked off in New York City on June 29. The next day they filmed a Fourth of July scene in Old Westbury, New York.
