A preview of “Gossip Girl” 2.12 titled “It’s a Wonderful Lie” has been released. This will be the episode where a death occurs and a funeral follows. The caption on the preview is read “If you had one night to live, who would you spend it with?”
It’s the annual snowflake ball in the Upper East Side. For the occasion, Blair and Chuck make a bet that they can find the ideal dates for each other. Aaron’s ex-girlfriend, Lexi, expresses an interest in Dan which creates conflicted feelings for Serena. Nate, Jenny and Vanessa get into a tangled situation that puts their friendships and hearts on the line. And somebody gets into an accident.
On November 3, the cast of the show were seen filming a funeral scene in Brooklyn. There have been some speculations of who will be yanked out of the show through the death, and many point it to Bart Bass. This speculation is given since there will be the addition of Desmond Harrington who will play Jack Bass, the younger brother of Bart who will try to take over the company. Beside, the death of Bart could mean the rekindling of Lily-Rufus romance.
“It’s a Wonderful Lie” is delayed a week and will air in two weeks time on December 1.
Last week’s episode of Gossip Girl
introduced us to the man who aspires to one day be Blair’s embarrassing stepfather, Cyrus Rose. Cyrus may be responsible for bringing the giant bore known as Aaron into the world, but his sense of humor, romantic past and ability to outsmart the Machiavellian Miss Waldorf made him instantly lovable. We’ll see more of Cyrus in next week’s special Thanksgiving episode, the title of which is a spin on the Orson Welles film The Magnificent Ambersons. That movie is about a young man in a rich, screwed up family, which is something Nate can probably relate to.
To get fans ready for next week’s Gossip Girl, we have some photos and a promo for the episode.
The CW’s official episode description reads: “Thanksgiving in the Waldorf household finds Blair upset that her mom’s new boyfriend, Cyrus, has decided to ruin all her favorite traditions, but that’s nothing compared to what’s coming next. Lily (Kelly Rutherford) finds herself trying to broker a peace treaty between Rufus and Jenny, who is prepared to cut off all communication with her father if she doesn’t get her way. Serena (Blake Lively) isn’t quite ready to come clean with Aaron about her complicated past, but Dan (Penn Badgley) ends up accidentally revealing a few tidbits of his own. Blair and Chuck (Ed Westwick) come to their friend’s aid when Nate (Chace Crawford) is once again forced to confront his father’s abandonment. Finally, Eric discovers a secret that Bart has been keeping from Lily.”
It looks like Little J will be coming home for the holidays, but will she stay in Brooklyn? My colleague Debbie Chang thinks that Rufus is a terrible father, but I think he has every right to be angry at his daughter, who’s been living on the wild side for quite a while now.
Thanksgiving is one of the few things that could bring the entire Waldorf family together. The next photo shows that Blair’s dad will be meeting his ex-wife’s new live-in boyfriend. Will it lead to an awkward dinner that ends with B scarfing down pie, or will the gathering be a Norman Rockwell painting brought to life?
Aside from pie, nothing is more important than family on Thanksgiving. The promo for “The Magnificent Archibalds” reminds us of that fact, as Rufus (Matthew Settle) struggles to convince Jenny to come home, Blair (Leighton Meester) battles with Cyrus over traditions, and Nate’s dad sneaks back into town to convince him to flee the country.
Things got a little tense within the Waldorf clan when Blair finds out about her mother’s romance to Cyrus Rose (guest star Wallace Shawn), and decides not to give her seal of approval. All new in “Gossip Girl“. Blair tries everything possible to make them break apart while, Cyrus’ son Aaron keeps charming Serena.
However, as she leans closer, Serena finds out something about Aaron that threatens to end things just as they are getting really good. Meanwhile, Jenny moves in with Agnes as the friends move forward with their plans for a fashion line. Dan decides to win the trust of Bart Bass in order to learn more about the man and possibly write an expose on him for Vanity Fair, but things get heated after Chuck finds out the real reason Dan is spending so much time around his family.
The episode called “Bonfire of the Vanity” will air November 10 and present Cyndi Lauper as a guest star. The show has been extended by The CW to have 25 episodes in total in the second season.
On other news, the question on which character may die in the show has been narrowed down further when an on-set photo where the cast were shooting a funeral scene has been outed. On November 3, all the principal actors of the show Chace Crawford, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen and Ed Westwick were all seen ‘alive’ in a Brooklyn shoot.
